Aquatic Complex Maria Lenk

AQUATIC PARK MARIA LENK The Maria Lenk Water Park is part of the Sports City Sports Complex in Barra da Tijuca, part of Rio de Janeiro City Hall's investments to host the 2007 Pan-American Games swimming, synchronized swimming and jumping competitions. water park is a tribute to the Brazilian swimmer Maria Lenk, who died just under three months before its inauguration.

The Aquatic Park, designed according to the established parameters and specifications of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), is partially covered and consists of an Olympic swimming pool, a heated swimming pool and a jumping tank. The complex has the capacity to receive approximately eight thousand people.



The construction area is 42 thousand square meters. The sports facilities were also designed according to the specifications required for the 2007 Parapan American Games, as well as environments and equipment prepared to accommodate people with special needs. From March 2008 onwards, it was administered by the Brazilian Olympic Committee, [2] which has training projects for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, technicians and referees, as well as courses, congresses, workshops, gymnasiums and schools swimming, water polo, ornamental jumping and synchronized swimming.

The Brazilian Olympic Committee now manages the park, where, in addition to training in swimming schools and other water sports, the park has areas for Judo training, Bodybuilding Academy, Courses and Workshops, as well as a training center for other sports, part of the offices of the Brazilian Olympic Committee are in the park, in this way the place became a good legacy of the 2007 Pan American Games for the city of Rio de Janeiro and in addition the park was used for the 2016 Summer Olympics
